Prayer Shawls made with loving care by Knitting for Others.

In October 2009, Marilyn Converse spoke of how the prayer shawl ministry, started by our Knitting for Others group, has impacted her life in so many wonderful ways as she has given shawls to the ill and their families. We started the Knitting for Others group about 3 years ago and were going strong for almost 2 years. For various reasons, the meetings were attended by fewer and fewer people, until we just stopped meeting. Some of us still knit and crochet shawls and give them to Marilyn, but it’s just not the same.

Marilyn’s words inspired Julie Palmason to re-start the Knitting for Others group. Interestingly, on the Sunday that Marilyn spoke, Julie had three women approach her after church asking about how they could be involved in this wonderful mission program, and they were all relative newcomers to our church. God was definitely telling Julie something.

For those who have never joined us before, we typically work on the shawls until about 9:00, but feel free to leave when you like. If you are a knitter, bring whatever yarn and needle size is appropriate.

Check out this link at http://www.shawlministry.com/instructions.html for more information. We also love to teach newbies how to knit (or crochet, right Marilyn?).

Meeting time:

  • The last Tuesday of every month, from 7:00 to 9:00 pm.
